My professional background is in teaching and, in the past, I worked as part of the counselling team at Weymouth College.
​
Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I understand that it can be a big decision, and that you may feel nervous, uncertain or vulnerable. My first priority is to provide a safe place where you feel you can be yourself and speak without fear of being judged. Once you feel comfortable, I will work with you to explore your concerns and help you understand what changes you can make to feel better about yourself and draw upon your own resources, find your own solutions and see things more clearly.

I am a BACP Registered Counsellor and have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

IAN HAWKINS, GMBPSS, MBACP
A solution-focussed psychological perspective
I'm Ian, a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I incorporate Person-Centred theory with CBT tools and understanding, to work collaboratively with you to facilitate change.

Whilst first and foremost providing a safe space to work with your agenda, I aim both to help you find the answers you need today and the skills and resilience you'll need to deal with future challenges.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in the community supporting people with enduring mental health issues, and latterly in healthcare in a custodial environment.
​
I have a First-Class BSc (Hons) Psychology, a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Skills and Theory. I am a registered member of the BACP and a member of the BPS.
